The focus of this course is to prepare K2 students for a smooth transition to primary one. The course will focus on reading, comprehension and mathematics.

Comprehension

Children will be taught Thinking Loft proprietary tools and techniques to build a visual model of any comprehension passage so as to help them identify and be able to analyse all the relevant conditions and relationships in the passage. This would help them to not only answer comprehension questions accurately but also be able to work through tricky multiple choice questions. In addition, children will also learn to recount the key points of the passage using their own words, thereby building the foundation for summarizing skills.

Mathematics

The course will be based on MOE P1 curriculum. Children will be trained in the technique of visual modeling in Mathematics, which is a key emphasis in Singapore mathematical curriculum. Visual modeling requires children to represent mathematical quantities and their relationships, and concrete manipulations to represent algebraic functions. By using pictorial representations instead of words, the structure of a word problem will be more evident.
